Holiday Recap...

Over the holiday, my mother came down to Richmond and spent Christmas with RBD and I. It's been over a year since my moms been down to Richmond, so it was nice having her visit. Richmond during the holidays is so beautiful and also very fun. We decided to take my mom to The Jefferson for a holiday dinner and then took her on the "Tacky Light Tour." These homes are always decorated beyond belief but it was a night to remember...

A night at The Jefferson...

A year ago I met the most amazing ladies in Richmond. We all met in the Jr. League and have been close ever since! It's now become a tradition that we grab a drink at The Jefferson and remember the night we all met. With so much to celebrate, The Jefferson is the perfect place to be during the holiday season. They always have a beautiful Christmas tree in the middle of the hotel and all their decorations are a sight to see...

I can't wait for many more years of our friendship and of course our yearly night at The Jefferson!

Shame on me...

It's been over a month since my last blog post -shame on me! Life has been full of fun adventures and also holiday preparation. I've been back and forth to China, went to DC and now I'm getting ready for Christmas....crazy!  Can you believe it's that time of year again? Even though I hate the winter and the cold there are a few things I love about the holidays:

Hair Repair - Day One

Over the past month, I've been noticing my hair breaking in the most random parts (it's mostly in the front). I would literally look in the mirror and be like, "my hair dresser did not just chop off this much hair!" So, yesterday I did some research and found some helpful products and ways to keep your hair healthy. Here's what I'm going to try....

1. Try not to wash your hair everyday

2. Vitiamns

3. Use a brush with boar bristles

4. Use Aveda Damage Repair and Smooth Infusion
The Damage Remedy will add protien to your hair to help straighthen and protect any damaged ends. I used it this morning and it's really light and doesn't make my hair greesy or weighed down. It's suggested that for 2 weeks you use this product every time you wash your hair. Then after two weeks only use it once or twice a week.

Smooth Infusion is a product I've been using for months now and you can use it on top of the Damage Repair to help protect your hair from heat damage. Once again, I used this product and Damage Repair this morning and my hair feels smooth without looking greesy - YA!

My other goal is not to staighten my hair as much - so wish me luck!
And I'll keep you posted on how my hair looks after two weeks.

Happy October!

I can't believe summer has come and gone and now there's a cool breeze in the air...ugh. It's hard to accept at first but then I tend to enjoy spending my nights curled up on the couch having a glass of red wine and a nice fire....mmmmm. I also love fall fashion! The idea of turtleneck sweaters, deep red lipstick and layering, kind of makes me smile......

HAPPY FALL!

Fabulous on a Budget

Two weeks ago, I started rummaging through my closet to find basic outfits to wear for the fall. Most of my inspiration comes from magazines, fashion blogs or store websites. It truly is a lifesaver when I'm trying to save money but look cute at the same time. The trick for me is - look at peoples outfits and find something similar in your own closet!!! SO SIMPLE RIGHT...now, the other key thing is, you have some basics that go with everything. Check out what I mean...

Most of these basics you already have, so search through your closet and get creative!
Happy Digging

Things I Love - Right Now..

I see a few blogs from time to time that express the 3 things they love at the moment. Since I adore multiple things a day/week, I thought I would share my "Loves" at this time...

My new catch all with my new initials!

These amazing bar glasses of all the monuments in Richmond.
RBD and I got these as a wedding gift from a friend here in Richmond and we absolutely love them!

Ahhh...and of course I'm starting to love the idea of fall and my new fall nail color from Essie, Swing Velvet.

Words To Live By....

Someone very close to my heart called me this weekend to express some insecurities she was having. It takes a lot for someone to express how they feel about themselves and what their going through - so to be her sounding board meant a  lot to me. After I got off the phone with her, I realized that everyone needs "words to live by" when they wake up in the morning....so today's words are dedicated to a special someone from this weekend.....

DIY Jewlery Holder..

My friend KKW inspired me with this idea of organizing my jewelry. I've always had my necklaces hanging on this one tower, which leads to them all getting tangled or worse FORGOTTEN. It became impossible for me to find this one necklace the other day so I decided it was time to put this project to work. Check it out...

Here were my supplies:
A frame
Krazy Glue
Screen (to hang my earrings)
Cup Hooks

I took out the center part of the frame and krazy glued the screen to the inside of the frame

Then I drilled holes were I wanted to add the cup hooks to hang my necklaces

And VALA - the finished product!
